The Rotary Club is excited to support literacy in Houston County. The goal is simple: encourage the Wiregrass to read more books this summer. The Houston County Sheriff’s Department will be invited to share how reading and curiosity play a role in solving mysteries, such as the one in the book that will be donated at this event, Alcatraz: Escape to The Wiregrass by Dale Cox.
The Columbia Historical Society will offer a few words about experiencing stories in real life—how books can spark adventures and inspire field trips, bringing history to life. A ten-year-old young man will be recognized for his love of reading and share how much he loves the library.
The Rotary Club will present the reading challenge, and the Dothan Rotary Club will donate two copies of Alcatraz Escape to The Wiregrass, a book with strong ties to Houston County and recognition far beyond our region.
