🚶 TRAIL TALES
Take a self-guided hike starting at the west trailhead, where a story unfolds along the trail. This week’s featured tale is “The Amazing Life Cycle of Butterflies” by Kay Barnham—read as you wander and explore nature at your own pace.
🔧 TINKERS – Drop in during open hours for ever‑changing, hands‑on, self‑led activities. 🦋
📖 TALES – Enjoy our weekly story read aloud on Mondays at 2 PM by Door County Librarian Beth Lokken.
🎤 TALKS – A specialist brings each weekly theme to life on Thursdays at 2 PM. On July 16, learn to create a garden that truly comes alive with color and motion! Join Karen Newbern, Nursery Manager at Door Landscape & Nursery, for an inspiring program on designing a butterfly garden that supports both beauty and biodiversity.
Karen will share practical guidance on selecting the right plants to attract butterflies throughout their entire life cycle—from egg and caterpillar to chrysalis and adult. Learn the difference between host plants and nectar plants, how to plan for continuous blooms from spring through fall, and how thoughtful garden design can provide shelter, sun, and water for these important pollinators.
🌼 JOURNEYS WITH JOAN – Continue summer nature exploration with Naturalist Joan Wilkie, Tuesdays at 1 PM. On July 14, seek summer butterflies in Crossroads’ gardens, meadows, and fields. Suitable for all ages.
There’s something new each week—come often and experience it all! Free and open to the public. Drop in—registration not required.
