Summer 2021's playoffs are here!
We are holding playoffs at, The Flipper Room, in Concord. This location has 33 games! Eras span nearly 50 years of pinball. All games are on coin-drop.
Playoffs start at 11am. Doors open at 10am for warm-ups.
We will supply Fred's Steak, drinks, and plates/cups/napkins/utensils. You are welcome to bring food/drinks to share.
Playoffs are a Swiss elimination (head-to-head) format, with a "winners", "losers" and "consolation" bracket for "A" and "B" divisions.
-To be eligible for playoffs, you must have 1) attended a minimum of 5 league sessions, and 2) paid your league dues (9 members have not paid their dues)
-Everyone starts in the winners bracket. These are a best of 5 game rounds, where the winner is determined by whomever earns 3 wins first, and they continue on to the next round in the winners bracket.
-Losers bracket consists of the players who lost their round in the winners bracket. These are a best of 3 games round. The winner reaches 2 wins first, and continues in the losers bracket.
-Winners' winner and Losers' winner face off in the Championship bracket, which is a best of 7 games round
-Consolation bracket are a best of 3 game rounds.
In this format, the top seed earns first choice; choice of machine or order.
-Choice alternates between players.
-A machine can only be picked once for the entirety of the playoffs, until all other games have been selected by the player (this won't happen).
-if order is selected before the machine, player order must be established before the machine is selected by the other player
-if machine choice is deferred, the other player must select a machine and cannot defer machine choice

-as of 10/25, we have 34 players eligible for playoffs, and that makes the cuttoff line at 16 players. It looks like we might have some ties, which will be decided by the following
"The number of players in Division A will be the highest power of 2 that is less than or equal to half of the number of players attending playoffs. The other players will be in Division B."
"In case of a tie between players with equal PQS (Playoff Qualifying Score), the following tiebreakers will be used:
-The first tiebreaker will be whichever player has defeated the other one in more games during the regular season. In case of a tie between more than two players, only Condorcet winners, losers, and recursive Condorcet winners and losers between them, will be decided by this tiebreaker.
-The second tiebreaker will be whichever player has attended more regular Sessions.
-The third tiebreaker will be whichever player has a higher MPO (see the seeding section, below).
-The fourth tiebreaker will be random."
