Sumi-e ink workshop with Junko Afternoon

Experience Japanese ink art (Sumi-e) with Junko Azukawa and create some beautiful art to take home. Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting, a simple monochrome ink art that evolved in Japan as a zen discipline. It is a powerful way to be in the moment and aware of your surroundings, to express the connection between nature and your inner self. You will have full experience of this unique meditative art form, make your own ink, and learn how to use different ink tones and brush techniques to create some simple and expressive paintings such as cherry blossoms, bamboo, Koi fish, mountains and trees, birds, chrysanthemum, rose and owl. All materials and a morning tea will be provided.
