About this Event
Join us for a proactive and thought-provoking day dedicated to learning, connection, and action. This conference brings together community leaders, professionals, and those with lived experience to share knowledge and help shape a more supportive future.
The Workshops: Practical Aftercare & Skills
Our hands-on workshops are focused on the "how" of support, providing you with the educational tools to provide immediate and long-term care:
- Suicide Postvention Aftercare: Developing the specific skills needed to assist families and local networks through the journey of bereavement.
- Workplace Postvention: Learning how to manage the ripple effect of loss in professional environments and supporting staff with compassion.
- BSL Taster Session: An introductory session in British Sign Language to help break down communication barriers and ensure aftercare is accessible to the Deaf community.
- Reaching New Communities: Practical strategies for introducing support and awareness into traditionally hard-to-reach areas.
- Community Leadership & Political Lobbying: Understanding how to use your voice to influence policy, engage with MPs and local government, and lead community-driven advocacy for better bereavement systems.
Specialised Learning: Research & Focus Areas
We will explore powerful topics and present new findings to ensure no community is left behind. This year, our focus areas bridge the gap between practical strategy and lived experience:
- Workplace & Economic Resilience: Mastering Workplace Postvention and Aftercare Strategies. We explore how to manage the ripple effect of loss in professional environments, ensuring that suicide prevention is woven into organisational structures.
- The Bereavement Lifecycle: A deep dive into Life Stages, including the needs of expectant mothers, the experiences of the Elderly (addressing isolation), and the profound impact of Early Years Loss.
- Diversity, Inclusion & Neurodiversity: Examining how Ethnicity and Neurodiversity shape the experience of grief. This includes our commitment to Inclusive Communication and BSL accessibility, ensuring that care is accessible to every community.
- Complex Loss & Crisis Care: Advanced research into Crisis & Neurodiversity and the long-term effects of suicide bereavement. We provide frameworks for Youth Resilience and strategies for those navigating the impact of losing multiple family members.
- The Athletic Transition: Addressing the unique challenges of a post-sport career, focusing on identity shift and mental wellbeing for retired athletes as a form of community outreach and resilience.
Building the Bridge
The "Connect" element of this conference is designed to foster lasting partnerships. By bringing together diverse sectors—from sporting bodies to healthcare professionals—we create a seamless web of care that ensures support is proactive and accessible to all.
Be part of the conversation. Challenge the silence. Help shape change.
