Sugar Ray Norcia's career kicked into high gear in 1979 when he formed the original Sugar Ray and the Bluetones with guitar giant Ronnie Earl and it has stayed there ever since. Norcia has appeared on over 60 albums with the likes of Roomful of Blues, J. Geils, Otis Grand, and Pinetop Perkins, among others. Sugar Ray Norcia himself has 15 Blues Music Award Nominations including 2023’s “Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year” (his 5th Nomination).
In 2017, Norcia was Nominated for the most prestigious and coveted Blues Music Award given every year – the “B.B. King Entertainer of the Year”. Norcia won “Album of the Year” at the Blues Music Award in 2014 with Billy Boy Arnold, Charlie Musselwhite, Mark Hummel, and James Harman for the album “Remembering Little Walter.”
