Many practitioners rely on inconsistent or improvised treatment approaches, leading to variable outcomes.

This 4-hour training with Matthew Bauer provides a structured, evidence-informed approach to treating peripheral neuropathy using acupuncture.


What You’ll Learn

• The four most common types of peripheral neuropathy seen in practice
• Relevant nervous system physiology for clinical application
• A 5-point protocol for lower extremities
• A 3-point protocol for upper extremities
• Needling techniques for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes
• How to space treatments for optimal outcomes
• How to determine when patients need maintenance (“tune-up”) care
• Patient self-care strategies to support long-term results

• 0–30 min: Types of peripheral neuropathy
• 30–60 min: Nervous system physiology
• 60–90 min: 5-point & 3-point protocols
• 90–120 min: Treatment demonstration videos
• 120–150 min: Needling techniques & stimulation methods
• 150–180 min: Patient self-care & maintenance strategies
• 180–210 min: Research review
• 210–240 min: Q&A


About the Instructor

Matthew Bauer has been in full-time acupuncture practice since 1986, with a focus on geriatrics and peripheral neuropathy.

He is the President of the Acupuncture Now Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing public awareness and access to acupuncture.

He is the author of numerous articles and two books and is actively involved in national education efforts around acupuncture as a front-line approach for peripheral neuropathy.
