DJ Jon Jules is a veteran when it comes to the turntables, starting his career in 1982. He held resident at the London Hippodrome for over ten years and was one of the original “Superclubs” Club UK. Jon regularly played at London’s Stringfellows spinning at the famous ‘Friday Night Dance Night,’ Camden Palace & Limelight, Tito’s Palace & BCM, Majorca, Music Factory, and even had a lengthy stint at Club Berlin, Perth Western Australia.
In the late 80s, Jon co-owned one of the South’s most influential record stores. He quickly became one of the busiest DJs of the new genre, dance music which is now internationally known as House. Jon helped launch the careers of DJs like Brandon Block, Dean Thatcher, Rocky & Diesel and many more.
As for today, Jon’s usual style is Jazz-Funk, Soul, Disco and Jacking House. His mixing skills are faultless, which has seen Jon become widely regarded and known as one of the most accomplished technical DJs in the UK. Coming runner-up in a public poll for Best Soul Club DJ by the “Soul Survivors” magazine.
Jon can still be found playing at events such as Margate Soul Festival, Luxury Soul Weekend in Blackpool, Soul Family Affair Weekend, Salou Soul, BolSoul Croatia, and Lagoona Soul. He has also held residents at Sweet Sensation, Love Injection, and Ruby Soul
As a seasoned radio presenter, Jon has gone from original “pirate” broadcasting in the mid 80’s to the BBC, ILR and other networks globally.
Oh yes! Jon was also once a pop star but don’t ask him about that.
DJ Stretch Taylor is a club & radio DJ, music journalist, remixer & promoter with 30 years’ experience in the game.
He has interviewed well over 100 artists on his radio show, from legends to unsigned artists, including Teena Marie, Roy Ayers, Leon Ware, Melba Moore, Teddy Riley & Blackstreet, Guy, Eric Benet, Leroy Burgess, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Guru, Faith Evans, Charlie Wilson, Beverley Knight and many more.
His big radio break came when he was asked to supply mixes for John Leech’s show on Essex Radio, and went onto present shows on pirate radio, hospital radio, and internet radio. Following this, his Ghetto Heaven radio show was born and has been running for over 20 years on a variety of stations, including Rhythm FM for 3 years, Soul 24/7 Radio for 3 years, Colourful Radio for 5 years, and now currently at Mi-Soul Radio since the launch broadcast, where he presented the very first live show on the station 8 years ago in 2012.
He has spun at all of the major events and weekenders on the soul circuit over the years including Southport Weekender, Notting Hill Carnival, Bournemouth Soul Weekender, Soul Village Weekender, Salou Soul Weekender, Ibiza Soul Week, and currently plays at Hayling Island Weekender, Margate Soul Weekender, Ibiza Soul & Reggae Weekender, Portugal Soul Week, Lagoona Soul Week, Brighton Weekender, Kavos Soul & Reggae Week and all Mi-Soul events both here and abroad.
He is now into the fourth year of his own Ghetto Heaven Weekender, which was launched in 2018 and sells out yearly with no advertising, just word of mouth. This intimate weekender has quickly become known as the weekender for real music heads, featuring quality music across all genres.
Following this, he now hosts many spin-off Ghetto Heaven club nights at various venues, continues to co-promote the successful Boating Club parties alongside Scott James since 1995, plus still plays as a guest DJ at club nights around the UK every weekend.
He has played at many legendary venues and club nights over the years including Pacha, Privilege and Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, Twice As Nice, Cookies & Cream, Club 8090, MOBO Awards afterparty, Rubber Soul and many more.
Commercial highlights of his career include making the official mix CD for Missy Elliott’s multi-platinum selling album ‘Miss E So Addictive’ for Warner Bros, plus a mix album for EastWest Records, and the mix CD for UK R&B singer Cherise.
Corporate bookings have included DJ’ing for the whole event at Lewis Hamilton’s private party after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 2018, and spinnin’ at Pharrell Williams & Snoop Dogg’s photographic exhibition in London featuring rare photos.
Stretch has been an active remixer over the years and had a track on Dome Records for Vicki Young called Now That We’re Together which became an underground R&B hit at the start of the millennium, plus has produced other remixes for artists including Chanel and Kool G Rap. The enforced lockdown caused by the CoronaVirus disease has given him time to get back into the studio with production partner Mike Theory to work on their debut instrumental soulful hip hop album called Covid Cuts, which they will self-finance and put out a limited number of copies by Autumn 2020.
