Aanii,Join us for a hands-on weekend dedicated to traditional fishing methods 6pm & 8pm Sat. 4/18 - 10am Sun. 4/19. Whether you are experienced or just curious to learn, we invite you to meet us at the Gladstone Marina and Escanaba River Dam.
We’ll be walking through the process of setting and retrieving gill nets and Walleye spearing. Spectators are encouraged to attend and observe!
Permit & License Requirements:
Gill Net Setting: A valid LTBB Subsistence License is required.
Little Bay de Noc: A specific Subsistence Permit is required for any activity in this area.
Escanaba River: A Walleye Spearing Permit is required for those participating in the 8:00 PM session.
Permit application: Must be completed by minimum 7hrs before or 1:00 PM the same day
Important Gear & Safety Info:
Spearing: Please bring a headlamp if you plan to spear at the Escanaba River.
Waders: We have a limited number of waders available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis.
Safety: Dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear for the riverbanks.
