About this Event
In this two hour workshop, artist Madhu will guide through history and process of wood block printing. The workshop will include printing on a tea towel to take away. Participants are welcome to bring their own item to print (any light coloured cotton/linen item is suitable, popular choice is tote bags, T-shirts or old clothing).
About the artist:
Madhu is a visual artist based in Peterborough. Her practice includes drawing, painting and textile works. As artist and a woman of Indian heritage, her work draws on traditions, materials and processes from her roots. More recently she has been exploring hidden histories of textiles supported by a grant from Arts Council of England. She is one of the artists selected for the Lancashire textile and British Textile Biennial, where she is explored the influence of Indian subcontinent on fashion and textile practices associated with Lancashire textile heritage.

Style Stories is a project by the Jumped Up Theatre ‘New Creatives’ a group of 16-24 year olds who create campaigns by and for the young people of Peterborough to explore topics important to them.
Explore stories of passing pieces down, mending, upcycling, precious memories and more. Style Stories invites you to examine your own relationship to fashion, to celebrate the pieces you love and be inspired to approach fashion in a more environmentally sustainable way.
