Emyvale's Edelle McMahon is a high end singer songwriter who blends punch, panache and passion. The North Monaghan area from Emyvale across to Glaslough and upwards to Truagh, Carrickroe and Clara has been an eclectic hotbed of music activity and a breeding ground of immense talent for many many years. This has continued right through to today and Edelle is the latest original, unique gifted talent to emerge from this maelstrom of creativity. She came to songwriting in her early 30s and made the excellent album "Adventures in Narcissism" in 2017. Like so many musicians Covid put a major roadblock on further progress, but Edelle has recovered powerfully with her new album "Stupid Love Songs ". The culmination of hard work, determination and sheer talent it is a total triumph of verbal dexterity, connectable emotional expression, vocal gymnastics and soaring soundscape. By the time the listener gets to the last track they are on the floor ecstatically overwhelmed. The final track is a joyous blow out which has them quickly back up dancing to Edelle's trademark humour. Edelle had three sold out homecoming concerts in 2025, two in Laragh's Tin Church and one in Smithborough's "1881". The local audience's enthusiastic reaction gave her the final spur of motivation to make this latest album. This concert represents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate not only all that is magical and inspiring about North Monaghan, but the whole county and the border area. Edelle normally performs as a one woman whirlwind but at this album launch she has been further enhanced by her phenomenal backing hand. Not only is Edelle an astonishing talent and show person, but she is a wonderful caring human being. Based in Belfast for almost 30 years now (but a very very regular visitor home), her full time employment is blended between working with people living with dementia and special needs through music, and also playing music with patients in the Northern Ireland hospice
