About this Event
STUNTDRIVER is a performance-charged, genre-bending adventure rock spectacle led by experimental clown, musician, and multi-disciplinary troublemaker, Kym Priess. Fresh off sold-out LA shows, a run of new releases & videos and personally invited to open Peaches’ 20th-anniversary tour, the project seduces audiences out of their comfort zones and delivers electrifying, immersive performances that make the whole room feel like it’s riding the same punk lifeboat.
Clad in monochrome stuntsuits and Blade Runner–esque makeup, STDR channels the spirit of Siouxsie Sioux, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Distillers, and Hole into a volatile mix of barreling drums, heavy bass, squealing melodic guitars, and explosive vocals likened to a collision between Tina Turner and Amy Taylor. Joined by the Warped Whores burlesque, the live show becomes an interactive concert complete with human tunnels, yellow sponges and plastic-wrapping.
STDR was originally staged as a fully immersive live concept for the debut record “Saga” with actors, dancers, and a double-drummer band guiding audiences through the music song-by-song. The player roster has included John Avila (OingoBoingo), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Jimmy Lucido (Gary Numan), and Bailey Chapman (DeathValleyGirls.) The current lethal touring unit is Priess on vox/bass, Sean Burgess on drums, and Jimmy Rixx on guitar.
At Daredevil, STDR unveils “Tit Town TBD” for the first time in Los Angeles — a raw new chapter and batch of songs inspired by Priess’ recent lumpectomy and upward journey involving her right tit, with brand-new material forged directly from the eye-opening experience. Four new songs are done as this is written but should be a few more as we get closer to July 18!
Imagine a party co-hosted by Pee-wee Herman and Elvira inside a surreal Salvador Dalí outer-space painting, where Dr. Frank-N-Furter crashes into Barbarella, Cindy Sherman, and Evel Knievel and somehow the world feels much more inhabitable after attending said-function.
