A fantastic amalgam of metal and rock bands from across the country, Stumpfest returns to Mississippi Studios for three nights! Now in its eleventh incarnation, this year's fest features an incredible lineup you won't want to miss — check it out below:
Lineup: Torche, Drunk Horse, Danava, Stainless, Blade
Torche:
Torche formed in 2004 and has carved out a distinctive sonic identity blending heavy thunderous sounds, with elements that are uniquely their own. Throughout their releases each album is distinct, showing that the band isn't confined to one genre. Over the years Torche has continued to evolve musically, keeping both long-time fans and new listeners engaged. Their live performances, in particular, are celebrated for their powerful and immersive sound.
Drunk Horse:
In 1997, Drunk Horse arrived naked and screaming into the world. Slapped on the ass with a copy of Nazareth’s Hair of the Dog and let loose with a singular goal: conjuring up riffs out of the void from whence they came. With a love of ZZ Top, Faces, Allman Bros, Jesus Lizard and King Crimson, they concocted a sound that veers wildly between heavy rock, proggish frippery and angular pugilism.
Eli Eckert (guitar, vocals) and Cripe Jergensen (drums) teamed up in 5th Grade in Arroyo Grande, Ca. They met John Niles (guitar) in high school. The trio relocated to Oakland, Ca. were they joined forces with their brother-in-rock, Cyrus Comiskey (bass).
Drunk Horse signed to Man’s Ruin records and released 1999’s self-titled LP and 2001’s Tanning Salon / Biblical Proportions. After the label's demise, they decamped to Tee Pee records and released Adult Situations in 2003 and In Tongues in 2005.
John Niles left the band after the release of Adult Situations but returned to the fold in 2023, reuniting the band’s original lineup. Resurrected and reinvigorated, Drunk Horse are currently working on a new album of dirty dog howlers.
