Join us at Open to Being for our first annual Studio Seconds Sale, a relaxed, open-studio afternoon centered on letterpress cards, prints, and the beauty of work made by hand. As we make space for new spring work, you’re invited to browse a special table of seconds—Open to Being greeting cards and art prints with minor imperfections, offered at reduced prices.
These pieces may have slight variations—an uneven ink impression, a soft smudge, or a gentle misalignment—but they carry the same heart, messages, and craftsmanship as our full-price work. Many guests love seconds for everyday correspondence, framing at home, or keeping a well-stocked card drawer all year long.
While you’re here, learn how letterpress cards are made on antique presses, browse current Open to Being stationery, and explore a small selection of thoughtful studio favorites, including Blackwing pencils, accessories, and handmade tote bags from Lavender Lizard Press.
This is an easy, unhurried studio visit—come on your own or bring a friend, take your time, and enjoy the process behind the paper.

Founder Theresa Esterlund opened a letterpress studio + shop in Arlington Ridge neighborhood of Arlington, VA in April 2025. This working studio includes a boutique retail destination open for special shopping events and showcasing Open to Being products as well as a curated collection of handcrafted goods from local makers. A highlight of the studio is our 1910 treadle-operated Chandler & Price platen letterpress.
Our Arlington letterpress shop is open to the public exclusively during seasonal shopping events. Also open by appointment.
