About this Event
Dr. Huda Zoghbi, MD, is a Distinguished Service Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, founding director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital, an investigator with Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and has been awarded the Canada Gairdner International Award and the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.
Zoghbi’s research focuses on patients who are suffering from rare and mysterious disorders, including Rett syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a genetic mutation that leads to serious impairment, affecting a child’s ability to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. Zoghbi’s research has also contributed to the understanding of a wide variety of neurological disorders and other diseases, including deafness, pediatric brain tumors, and sudden infant death syndrome.
On April 25th, Dr. Zoghbi will lead a 45-minute discussion sharing her medical background and journey, followed by a 15-minute Q&A open to all attendees. The event will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with light bites and social networking, followed by Dr. Zoghbi's discussion at 12:15 p.m. Guests will then have the opportunity to engage and participate in a Q&A at 1:15 p.m. before the event concludes at 1:30 p.m.
