Fort Gallery is pleased to announce the first workshop as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations!
Join us on Saturday March 28th for a hands-on studio photography workshop led by photographer and visual artist Khim Mata Hipol!
This free, all ages event invites participants to explore self-identity through both portraiture and still life photography. With various prompts and technical guidance from Khim, participants will reflect on personal stories, memories, and cultural backgrounds to create images that represent who they are. Attendees are encouraged to bring a meaningful object from their personal life or cultural background to photograph, as well as a camera of their choice (DSLR, Polaroid, or phone).
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop is a chance to experiment, share, and connect through creative storytelling.
Khim Mata Hipol is a Filipino-born interdisciplinary artist living and working in North Vancouver on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations. Through photography, Hipol examines how a sense of identity can be manipulated through commercialization.
Where: Fort Langley Community Hall (9167 Glover Road, Langley).
When: Saturday March 28, 12-2pm.
This workshop is appropriate for all ages and skill levels, no art experience required. Children and youth under 15 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Photographs and /or videos will be taken at this event. This may be used in Fort Gallery’s social media sites. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform us at the beginning of the workshop.
