Strum has pulled the plug on the StFYC Rolex Big Boat Series and plans to race in Southern California & Mexico for the late 2024 season and 2025. Partly because we have secured better moorage during the RVYC Jericho Breakwater Project, and partly because we would like the boat and crew to be better prepared. This remains on our Bucket-List, so stay tuned for another season. Details will remain up so we can refer once this awesome potential campaign.

MEXORC 2024 on its 46th edition will take place in Banderas Bay, Purto Vallarta from the 2nd to the 6th of March 2024. The venue will be Marina Vallarta BVG where the participating fleet will dock under privileged conditions. The Official lodging with attractive rates will be the Flamingo Hotel Puerto Vallarta among other options. This Regatta is supported by the Acapulco Yacht Club, San Diego Yacht Club and the PV RACE 2024. The organization is working on a variety of accommodation options having already secured good deals with the Hotel Flamingo Puerto Vallarta located next to the marina. The ruling ratings will be ORR. There will be 4 or 5 categories in accordance with ratings and also with the number of identical boats that could compete as a class. Racing will be a mix of W/L races as well as 20-30 mile costal racing on a couple of days..

STRUM (-77 PHRF-BC/459.5 ORC)
Custom built for the Vogel family in 2006 by Ian Franklin in Christchurch New Zealand in full carbon fibre with water ballast, articulating sprit and lifting keel. “Strum was built as an evolution of the concept behind the Riptide 35 and 44. She is a high performance long course racing boat with comfortable cruising accommodations. Her light displacement and water ballast make her capable of 24 hour runs in excess of 350 NM and cruising speeds under power of 10+ kts. Water ballast, non-overlapping jibs and asymmetrical spinnakers enable her to be sailed at a high percentages of her maximum performance with a minimum number of crew.”

WHY
Our RoyalVan.com Jericho home port is getting a new $30 million breakwater 2023-2025. During this time, Strum has to find a new home port. Since Nov/23, she has tried the RVYC Scott Point Outstation and the RVYC Coal Harbour Marina, with very little use. So the idea is to try out Southern California & Mexico during the breakwater project. We start by moving Strum to the Sep11-15, 2024 StFYC 60th Rolex Big Boat Series, then San Diego. Strum would return to RVYC Jericho home port after the breakwater project is complete @summer of 2025, unless we decide to stay south for another season.
Mr & Mrs STRUM
With both kids in university for the first time during the 2024 StFYC RBBS, they will be new empty nesters. They are looking to rent a furnished 3 bedroom apartment Nov01/24 for 4 months near NHYC or SDYC, so their kids or crew can visit during the Snowbird Season.
TRANSPAC 2025
Both Strum and the Andrews77 Mach-2 are interested in this event, which starts July 2025.
VANCOUVER CREW
