Cheltenham’s own Kim Cypher is one of the UK’s most exciting and exuberant saxophonists, vocalists, composers and band leaders. A regular performer on the London and UK jazz circuit, with success of four highly acclaimed albums, award-winning music videos, performance in New York and multiple sellout shows at world-renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Kim has firmly secured her reputation as a leading figure in contemporary jazz.
Renowned for her vivacious style, passionate energy, charismatic stage presence and warm connection with all audiences, it is no surprise that Kim has become a much-loved artist on the UK jazz circuit.
Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Kim will captivate you in a spellbinding performance, sharing positive energy through her music and audience repartee.
Kim has performed and recorded with some of the country’s finest jazz musicians including Pee Wee Ellis, Ray Gelato, Liane Carroll, Ashley Slater, Antonio Forcione, Clem Clempson, Peter Lemer with her regular band personnel including some of the most experienced UK jazz musicians.
Kim’s love and passion to collaborate with and celebrate fellow creatives is clear to see in her work as part of award-winning Women in Jazz Media, her vast ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ project and the musical collaborations on each of her albums. She is also a keen supporter of local community and has been flying the flag for local musicians to be celebrated in their local communities, as demonstrated in her recent groundbreaking performance in the Jazz Arena at her hometown Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
Kim is delighted to return to Stroud Jazz Club amidst her ongoing ‘LIVE and Smiling’ tour for a performance with the jazz club house band and to jam with fellow local musicians.
