The first part of the class is mostly solo practice: somatic movement, warm up and breathing to embody our awareness, grounding, practice of yield-push-reach principle, opening and folding, spiralling movements when changing levels, strong centre, soft spine etc.
Our centre awareness and strength will help us move in a more efficient way and will prepare us for lifting partner's weight and continue our dance spiralling and searching possible pathways, ways out etc.
This month we'll focus more closely on SPIRALS IN THE BODY while changing levels and transitioning from one side to another (going over). We'll start with simple exercises and build up from there.

RECEIVING, LIFTING WEIGHT and MOVING with lightness
How can we receive and dance with full weight on all three levels, how to change levels smoothly or how to navigate while learning and practicing pathways we later combine in our contact dance: with the floor or with a partner?
Let's practice, explore, get confused or lost, and find the connection again. It's so natural to come out of balance and try to come back to it again. It's just a game, so let's have fun like kids 😃

Martina Rožić is a certified yoga teacher, a contact improvisation dancer and teacher, researcher of somatic movement (bodywork) and movement in water (watermotion) with two decades of experience.
As a child she did gymnastics, acted in theatre and later dedicated most of the time to contemporary dance (release, contact improvisation, improvisation). She's worked with Sabine Parzer and completed her Holistic Dance and Movement Pedagogy teacher training. She's also completed Daniel Werner & Joerg Hassmann's CI training programme and has taught at Osterimprofestival (Germany), Tempelhof CI Festival (Germany), Vienna CI festival (Austria), Warsaw Flow CI festival, New Year London Jam etc. Her work is based on contact improvisation, authentic movement, bodywork, yoga and contemporary dance.
