About this Event
This concert puts together two great masterpieces of the Austro-German tradition. Brahms 1st String Sextet is a relatively early work, his first successful attempt at string writing, Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht is also an early work, still firmly rooted in the sound world of both Brahms and Wagner, and admired even by audiences who have not come to terms with Schönberg’s subsequent developments as a composer of twelve-tone music.
