Strike Night & Open Shop

Every WEDNESDAY from 5:00pm-7:30pm VPS will open the forges in the Hot Shop, crank up the music and strike some metal! If you have taken Intro to Blacksmithing or Intro to Welding then you are eligible to sign up for this weekly open shop time. Its a great time to practice what you've learned in the intro classes or try a new project.

Remember, mistakes are wecome and a given! Trust the process!

Each participant must bring their own metal and materials, though we do have some blank material on hand for practice. There is no instruction, but there will be other community blacksmithers/welders around to make sure everyone is safe and able to find what they need.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is a minimum age of 16 due to the physical requirements of hammering metal for 2 hours. If you're younger than 16 and interested in attending, please send us an email.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Visual Philosophy has a parking lot available to attendees in the rear of the building accessible via Julian St. HWY 280, 87 and Diridon Caltrain station are very close.

What can I bring into the event?

Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and the materials you need to create your independent projects.

What's the refund policy?

By purchasing a course or workshop, you are obligated to provide payment in full prior to the start date. Courses and workshops may be cancelled 3 days in advance with money returned. Course and workshop tuition purchased but not completed in full or by the start of course can not be refunded.
