Are you concerned about muscle loss, bone density, balance, stiffness, or feeling more tired during everyday activities? Would you like to feel more confident using weights and doing resistance training in a safe, supportive environment?
This 90 minute workshop will show you how to customize simple exercises to match your daily functional movements while also improving mobility, strength, and confidence. Mobility is not just flexibility. It is the ability of your joints, muscles, and connective tissues to work together through a comfortable range of motion so you can move with ease in everyday life.
You will learn how strength and mobility support common movements such as lifting, bending, reaching, and getting up from the floor or a chair. For example, you might learn how to lift a heavy bag of mulch more safely (deadlift), stand up from a couch with greater ease (squat), or reach and rotate more comfortably through your shoulders and spine.
During the workshop, we will cover:
• What functional movements are and why they matter for daily life
• The role of mobility in maintaining healthy joints, posture, and freedom of movement
• The 10 domains of fitness: endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy
• Foundational strength movements such as deadlift, squat, press, and clean with light weights and clear step by step instruction
• Simple mobility drills for hips, shoulders, and spine to support safe and efficient movement
• Modification ideas so every participant can work at an appropriate and comfortable level
