About this Event
Join us for a pre-show street celebration before the film screening of Rave On for the Avon!
Rave On for the Avon follows campaigners and river lovers over a year and a half, capturing their highs, lows, love, and loss as they fight to protect our waterways. Greenwich, shaped by its river and community, is the perfect place to celebrate these themes and connect with the wider movement for clean and thriving rivers. This screening brings us together to celebrate our rivers and the communities they sustain, making it a perfect event for nature lovers, environmental advocates, and anyone passionate about protecting our waterways.
Before the screening, we will gather outside Greenwich Picturehouse for a family-friendly East-meets-West celebration, as local groups from Bristol come together with those in South East London. This gathering marks the union of our rivers and communities in a shared commitment to their protection.
Everyone is welcome to dance alongside the Goddess of the Wye and Father Thames in a river ceremony, enjoy poetry and readings honouring our priceless waterways, and take part in a lively gathering of creativity, community, and environmental activism.
