Join us for an engaging Masterclass on "Strategic Supply Chain Skills for the 21st Century" by , Chair in Operations Management.


In a highly interactive session, we will explore some of the key skills needed for strategic supply chain management. Including, a clear definition for relationship management, examine the evidence base for different theories related to it, present a supply chain ‘Dependency Model’ and then discuss aspects of effective negotiation.

About Professor :

Professor David Bamford is an experienced industrialist/academic who has published over 250 articles, book chapters and reports as well as presented widely on his topics to both academic and practitioner audiences. His multiple publications include two co-authored books: Essential Guide to Operations Management and Managing Quality. David's research interests are: operations management improvement strategies; supply chain management, quality management; sports operations management; strategic organisational change; leadership. E.g. His work at the London 2012 Paralympics, assessing athletes perceptions of the operational resources design and delivery, influenced design aspects of the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games.
David has received many awards for research and for teaching: Innovative Partnership Award - Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC): Knowledge Transfer Partnerships; Technology Strategy Board; South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYPFT); and for teaching: University of Manchester: Distinguished Achievement Medal – Teacher of the Year; University Award for Teaching Excellence. Multiple School and Department Teaching Awards and nominations at: University of Manchester, University of Huddersfield, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Knowledge transfer has been at the centre of David’s career strategy. It provides a focus and direction for his research, grant applications, publications, teaching, and major administrative roles. Through it he has a significant involvement in knowledge creation and transfer in conjunction with various partner organisations, such as the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the NHS, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Manufacturing Institute. David has also led related modules in Executive Education, working with organisations such as the NHS, TATA, BP, JCB, BAE, etc.
