Stranger Encounters presents: TATTOOS AND STORIES with Wai
"I used to be a lot of things — an aircraft engineer, a butler, an Uber driver, a semi-con engineer. Now I’m a tattooist. Not because I’m chasing art, but because I’m chasing people. Their stories, their connections.

Truth is, I’m still figuring life out. Trying to make sense of it for myself, while holding space for others to do the same. Nobody really has it all sorted. But maybe, through the permanence of ink and the stories we carry, the journey feels a little less lonely."

Come and share the story behind your tattoo. Haven’t got one - no problem, discuss the desire for tattoos, or simply learn more about the art and culture of tattoos.

About Stranger Encounters 2025: A one-day assembly of interactive creative experiences.
Community development is at the heart of Stranger Encounters.

Set in the historic art hub of Pearl’s Hill Terrace, this one-day gathering blends participatory theatre, immersive art, and shared experiences that spark social connection.

Arrive as strangers, and through a series of creative sessions — spanning movement, storytelling, dance, music, technology, and ritual — and leave having shared moments of curiosity, laughter, and trust.

What begins as an encounter becomes a community.

Each session is designed as a doorway into connection: with yourself, with others, and with the vibrant creative community that calls Pearl’s Hill Terrace home.

Stranger Encounters is hosted by Stranger Conversations, 195 Pearl's Hill Terrace 02-38D, a public living room that makes space for conversations that matter, and nurtures creative ideas. Be part of our community.

Wai, a gifted tattoo artist, offers a welcoming and non-judgmental space for tattoo enthusiasts to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other resulting in meaningful conversations and connections.
