About this Event

Stranger Encounters presents: COLLAB WRITING/SKETCH ON LOVE with Senisini & Layl Ash-Shayr
The session opens with a poem and a brief grounding reflection before moving into a short warm-up exercise, lead by Kashful and Kaif of Senisini and Layl Ash-Shayr.
Together, the group will form a collaborative, supportive writing circle where participants will not be limited by language but will also have the option to sketch and respond visually to the same prompt.

About Stranger Encounters 2025: A one-day assembly of interactive creative experiences.
Community development is at the heart of Stranger Encounters.

Set in the historic art hub of Pearl’s Hill Terrace, this one-day gathering blends participatory theatre, immersive art, and shared experiences that spark social connection.

Arrive as strangers, and through a series of creative sessions — spanning movement, storytelling, dance, music, technology, and ritual — and leave having shared moments of curiosity, laughter, and trust.

What begins as an encounter becomes a community.

Each session is designed as a doorway into connection: with yourself, with others, and with the vibrant creative community that calls Pearl’s Hill Terrace home.

Stranger Encounters is hosted by Stranger Conversations, 195 Pearl's Hill Terrace 02-38D, a public living room that makes space for conversations that matter, and nurtures creative ideas. Be part of our community.

About the Artists

Kaif aims to challenge ideas of mundanity with vivid imagery and proud peculiarity. You can find her works in Layl Ash-Shayr’s ‘The Opening Act’ anthology or her Substack, Otherwise Archived. Beyond writing, she serves as Admins and Operations Head of Layl Ash-Shayr, contributing to Singapore’s growing literary community.

Kashful writes with the tone of reckoning. She hopes to move you with her writing as she explores the quiet truths we carry. You can find some of her works on Substack, @kashfulilahi and her website, Konversations. She is also part of Layl Ash-Shayr, Senisini and Rose of Madinah where she takes on different roles in each collective.

Layl Ash-Shayr, which loosely translates from Arabic to "Poetry Night," is an open-mic and spoken work event for Muslim writers in Singapore to share their work and engage with fellow creatives. More can be found at @laylashshayr.

Senisini, founded in August 2024, is a creative-run ground-up initiative aimed at making the arts and creativity accessible to the youths of Singapore. We are here 4 the people, future, and culture. More at @senisini.
