Born in Townsville and raised between Palm Island and Yarrabah, Normey Jay grew up surrounded by strong family, culture and music. Raised by his parents and grandparents alongside his siblings, his connection to music began early. By the age of eight, he had already discovered his passion for singing and songwriting and was gifted his very first guitar — a moment that would help shape the path of his musical journey.
Coming from a family of musicians, music has always been more than just sound for Normey Jay — it is a way of storytelling, healing and connection. One of his major milestones as an artist and producer came with the release of 40 Tribes of Bwgcolman, a powerful project that brought widespread recognition and opened the door to live performance opportunities across Cape York and Central Queensland.
Deeply inspired by culture, community and lived experience, Normey Jay believes in the power of music to break down barriers and bring people together. His purpose as a performer is to inspire others and unite audiences through the shared spirit of love, culture and pride.
