About this Event
Straight razor honing is the process of sharpening a razor blade by carefully passing it across a series of progressively finer abrasive stones, called hones, to remove metal and create a sharp, smooth cutting edge. Essentially, it's the act of actively sharpening a razor, as opposed to simply polishing the edge with a strop (a tool that is typically made out of leather and is used for regular maintenance between shaves).
In this class, we will learn the art of straight razor honing from bevel set to finish and learn some edge restoration strategies. You will leave with your own straight razor, 2 hones and leather strop, plus the time-honored techniques to beautifully maintain them.

$170 member // $200 non-member
$150 materials fee (includes a leather strop, 2 hones and a straight razor to keep)
Refunds/Cancellations:
If we cancel, we will refund you in full and notify you. You may cancel and get a full refund up to seven days before the class. After that, refunds are contingent on us being able to fill your seat. Under no circumstances do we offer refunds to individuals who cancel on the same day. This ruins the party for everyone.
Instructor bio:
Nelson Gutierrez has 45 years of professional experience honing straights razors
and Single Edge wedge blade sections.
Until his recent retirement from the music business, Nelson has also been a professional trumpeter in New York City for over 45 years. He has performed with many Salsa and Latin artists notably Larry Harlow, Jose Alberto "El Canario", Celia Cruz, Ray Sepulveda and Tito Nieves where he was the Musical Director for over a decade.
