Join us at the new Fred & June's location in Mooresville as we welcome children's author Kim Joyce to celebrate her new release Stetson's Unplugged ABC's Book" on Saturday, March 14th at 10:15am! Kim will be staying with us until 11:15am to chat and sign copies of her book!Stetson shares his favorite unplugged activities in an ABC book format. These activities are not in front of a screen or monitor, and do not use a handheld device, gaming console, tablet, laptop or computer. Stetson learned at a very young age how important it is to engage in physical play and movement away from technology. Unplugged activities and play foster creativity, improve social skills, and have both physical and mental health benefits, while building a strong foundation for learning and well-being that screens may impede.
About the author:
Kimberlye Joyce is a mother, an educator and a lifelong learner. Early in her career, she served as a speech and language pathologist for K-12 children in public schools addressing the needs of both diverse and special needs learners. She was also a leader serving children at her church directing bible school and children's choirs from pre-school age and beyond.
She is also passionate about helping children discover the world around them by promoting learning through storytelling that develops their vocabulary, builds their confidence, supports healthy minds, fosters inventiveness and innovation, encourages discovery through "unplugged" activities, and promotes creativity through music and art. The Stetson Book Series incorporates her aims and is based on true stories about the author's son.
