About this Event
Join Lynette Melnyk for a 3-hour, hands-on workshop where rules are thrown out the window and creativity takes over. Whether you're looking to create a new visual language for your mixed media art or just want to try something new and meditative, this workshop will help you tap into the joy of wordless expression.
Asemic writing is all about personal storytelling, without worrying about literal meaning. You’ll play with gestural marks, using different tools, papers, and mediums while letting your intuition lead the way and embracing the unpredictability of the process.
With fun, relaxed exercises, you'll build a unique collection of expressive pieces that capture your personal artistic voice. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a set of asemic works to inspire your future projects—and a sense of freedom from letting go of perfection.
What you’ll take away:
- A collection of asemic works that reflect your creative story
- Confidence to try new forms of expression
- A fresh perspective on art-making that focuses on the process, not perfection

About the Instructor
Lynette Melnyk is an abstract artist who brings energy and joy to the studio. Known for her bold brushstrokes and expressive lyrical style, she helps people stop overthinking and start creating — whether they’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to their creative spark after a long break.
Her workshops are playful, confidence-boosting, and full of “aha” moments. With a background in art, design, marketing, and creativity coaching, Lynette makes abstract art feel approachable, exciting, and deeply personal. Students often say they leave her workshops feeling lighter, more inspired, and ready to keep painting — feeling like real artists and wondering why they ever doubted themselves.
