The event begins with a presentation from Community Archaeologist, Dr. Katherine Seeber, sharing the results of the May 2025 Community Archaeology Town Hall, where community members and volunteers worked alongside archaeologists to uncover artifacts and features of Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, the first self-governed town of formerly enslaved people in the American South. Afterward, the event opens into an interactive, open-house format. Attendees can explore educational displays, view the community mapping of discoveries, and connect the dots between what was found in the soil and the history of Mitchelville’s layout.🎟️ FREE Event – Space is Limited!
