Stop the Swerve is an event hosted at the Basketball Hall of Fame focused on preventing impaired and distracted driving. The Stop the Swerve presentation includes a locally produced documentary that explores the circumstances and consequences of a recent crash, with perspectives from those directly affected. After the documentary, an assistant district attorney who specializes in Motor Vehicle Homicide cases shares their expertise, the importance of seat belts, the dangers of impaired and distracted driving, and more. The event also includes interactive activities for students, including driving simulators, impairment goggle activities, and a pedal cart challenge.
While students engage with these stations, parents who attend receive a presentation on the liability of hosting teen parties.
A highlight of the evening is District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s announcement of the winning schools for the Stop the Swerve PSA and Billboard competition.
All attendees of driving age are eligible to enter a raffle to attend driving school for free from AAA, with the winner being announced at the conclusion of the event.
ALL are welcome! Families, parents, students, school administrators, community members and more.
