Severe bleeding can happen anywhere, at home, work, school, or in the community.Knowing what to do in those first few minutes can save a life. This Stop the Bleed® course teaches everyday people how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take quick, effective action until emergency responders arrive.Participants will take part in a short, easy-to-understand presentation followed by hands-on practice using bleeding-control techniques such as applying pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet. No medical experience is required, and the skills are simple, practical, and empowering.
Hosting this course at the Harrison Museum connects to a powerful story in our region: community members have always stepped up to care for one another. The work of groups like the Hunton Life Saving Crew, pioneers in training, preparedness, and emergency response helps to reminds us that protecting our neighbors is part of the cultural legacy we preserve.
By learning these skills today, we continue that tradition of resilience, responsibility, and care.
