About this Event
Where else on a Saturday morning, in Dallas, can a curious person walk into a FREE class, and leave 2 hours later as a trained and empowered immediate responder?
In this class, YOU will learn how to stop life-threatening bleeding with tourniquet application or wound packing and pressure. YOU then get to learn Hands Only CPR**/AED operation with lifelike manikins and trainer AEDs (automatic external defibrillators).
This class will run from 8:00am to 10:00am.
Afterwards, attendees are welcome to stay and attend the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training at 10:30 to 12:30. This class will be informative, fast-paced and interactive.
Our speaker, Maurice Brown, is an Army infantry veteran who experienced combat in Afghanistan. Maurice works now as a terrific trauma nurse clinician here at Texas Health Dallas.
** Please note, this CPR/AED class is NOT a card class. This class follows the bystander CPR algorithm which does not include pulse checks or rescue breathing.
The easiest way to arrive at Professional Building #5 at 8194 Walnut Hill Lane is to continue south on Greenville Avenue and turn right at Phoenix Drive. Take a left at the T-intersection, and follow the drive around to Lot 16. Parking is free. Enter the building and take the elevator down to the ground floor. The classroom will be at the end of the floor.
A lounge with a soda machine (cash only, sorry), as well as a refrigerator, is located right next to the classroom space.
