Stoop Session: Music at the Mausoleum

The Historical Society of Forest Park is excited to host our first ever Stoop Session, right on “our stoop” at the Lehmann Mausoleum. Join us for a delightfully eerie evening featuring the spooky sounds of Bloody Tambourine and the Musical Mafia, perfectly suited for a summer night among the stones. "Doors" are at 6:30, music begins at 7:00, settle in and grab a Smokey Joel hot dog. Bring a chair or blanket and get comfortable.

We’re thrilled to partner with the Forest Park Arts Alliance as part of their summer music series, and grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park for sponsoring this hauntingly good time.

Parking is limited, so walking or biking is strongly encouraged. For those driving, parking is available behind the cemetery office via the Desplaines entrance, with additional parking along the left side of the fork. Parking attendants will guide you. From the lot, it’s about a 0.25 mile walk to the stoop, just enough time to enjoy the atmosphere and maybe a few chills. Please note, the cemetery bathroom may not be available, so plan accordingly before you arrive.

One summer in 2013, a bunch of music students were hanging out at Derek Kemp’s house. He had recently received a very peculiar delivery: an alleged bloody tambourine. Derek turned to his musician friends and said, “How did this bloody tambourine get here? Is the musical mafia out to get me?” And thus, Bloody Tambourine and the Musical Mafia was born.
They’re pretty sure we know who delivered the tambourine, and they’re pretty sure it wasn’t actually blood. But it adds to the drama doesn’t it?
Bloody Tambourine and the Musical Mafia is a fun loving ragtime/indie band based in Fort Wayne, IN and Chicago, IL. Specializing in songs about spooky places you go for the purpose of being spooked, they are sure to charm you with their whimsical lyrics, old timey piano licks, ethereal vocal harmonies and of course, tambourine playing.
