About this Event
Help beautify Christopher Park - an International LGBTQ Heritage Site!
You can help plant 4,000+ tulips and other flower bulbs in Christopher Park! For the last ten years, Out Professionals has helped the Christopher Park Alliance and the NYC Parks Department showcase the best of New York – with Pride! Our efforts will set the stage for the colorful spring flower show.
- Every year, tens of thousands of people from across the world visit the Stonewall National Monument as part of their visit to New York City. The efforts of a few volunteers help ensure a beautiful park for visitors and city dwellers alike.
- This is the one day of the year we plant bulbs for the Spring. We provide gardening tools, instructions, and good company. Just bring yourself in loose-fitting clothes which you can get dirty.
- Meet other community-conscious, motivated people! We'll be joined by volunteers from the Stonewall Society (NYC Parks Department LGBTQ employee group). All gardens in the monument are maintained entirely through the efforts of volunteers.
- Sunday is the rain date. Registering for Saturday does not obligate you for Sunday.
Volunteers are welcome for as little as an hour or for the full day -- whatever your schedule can accommodate. We will be planting from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm - or until all the bulbs are in the ground. At the end, we take a group photo and enjoy Bleecker Street Pizza to celebrate!
We look forward to seeing you there!
There's nothing quite like seeing the park in the spring – and knowing that you help create its beauty.
