Unlock Scotland this September!Doors Open Days is Scotland's largest free festival that celebrates places and stories, new and old, and this September celebrates not only 30 years of Doors Open Days in the Stirling area but also 900 years of the Royal Burgh!
Lots of buildings will be open as part of the festival and all are completely free to enter including Cowane's Hospital, a former 17th Century Almshouse. The building is home to the newly refurbished Guild Hall and free John Cowane Exhibition, Stirling's greatest benefactor. So why not pop along to our impressive building on Saturday 21st or Sunday 22nd September between 10am to 4pm to learn the history and legacy of the wealthy philanthropist, John Cowane, and what he gave back to the City of Stirling.
Pick up a complimentary guide to discover the ‘Secrets in the Stone’ or follow the ‘John Cowane’s Trail’ and you can also play free ‘Croquet on the Lawn’ in the gardens.
Breakfast rolls, light lunch, cakes, tea and coffee will be available from the Legends at Cowane's Café to enjoy in the historic surroundings of the Guild Hall or on the sunny terrace (weather permitting)
