About this Event
It is Stir Up Sunday 1881, and Lizzie the kitchen maid is tasked with making the plum pudding for Christmas under the exacting eye of Mrs Weller the Housekeeper.
More servants are needed for the Christmas season. Duties could include scrubbing the floor, polishing the silverware and making Christmas decorations using fruit from the orangery.
Could you pound the sugar and spices without spilling them? Stir the plum pudding from East to West whilst making a wish? Taste a mince pie without Mrs Weller catching you?
Discover the history behind many of our Christmas traditions during this fun and interactive session for all the family.
