About this Event

Starting from the basics, you will learn from a variety of exercises and tuition the essential techniques used to create beautiful still life compositions using pencil.

Please note that all courses in our 2021 Winter Programme will be going ahead. If for any reason our venues have to close due to restrictions, our courses will be going ahead online which means no course cancellations. Programme:

Starting from the basics, your tutor will provide exercises and tuition to help you improve your drawing or help you get to grips with the basics. This course is suitable for beginners, or for more experienced artists looking to polish up their skills.

The 10 week course will cover topics:

2. Light and shade

3. Working with colour

4. Perspective

5. Composition

6. Fabric

7. Glass and reflections

8. Organic forms

9. Flowers

10. Innovation and abstraction

Tutor: Kathy Dereli

Kathy is trained in traditional techniques in drawing and sculpture which she uses to create well-crafted artworks with a modern sensibility. She has lead classes and demonstrations in both disciplines for several years. Kathy has also run Portrait Drawing for many years as well as Portrait Painting and Sketching in the Anglican (find and book on to this class on our website)!

Cost:

£160 for the 10 week course (full course must be booked in advance)

It is possible to split this cost into two payments of £80, please call 0345 017 6660 for more details.

Materials:

You will receive a list of essential materials 2-3 weeks before the course, if you want this list earlier please contact [email protected]

The essential materials will include pencils (H, HB, B as a starting point), A3 paper pad (cartridge paper or rag paper is best) a rubber and sharpener.

Optional charcoal and coloured mediums such as coloured pencil or pastel.

Notes:

Cancellations / Refunds:

Once you have made your course booking you are are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.

Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.

If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
