About this Event
Still Inspired presents its 11th dance season in Chicago! The evening-lengh production is inspired by the work of local visual artist Cydney Lewis. Audiences will take a deep dive into Lewis's purpose for creation through the lens of newly premiered collaborative choreography.
"Discarded objects reveal what (and who) our society values, and what gets thrown away. Through drawing, sculpture, and installation assembled around these materials, I discover their stories, their beauty, and endless adaptation. They create worlds that seem familiar and surreal." - Cydney Lewis
Estimated run-time: 45 minutes
No Intermission
A brief pause will take place post-performance, followed by an optional Artist Talk with Cydney Lewis, the choreographers, and the performing cast. Q&A to follow.
Co-Produced by: Brian Hare and Laura Thurston
Choreography by: Brian Hare, Annie Conway, Laura Thurston and the performing cast
Performance by: Sam Crouch, Katie Dabson, Ava Foerster, Mark Gonzalez, Megan Hansen, Lauren Reed, Abigail Stachnik
Mission Statement
Still Inspired is a Chicago-based dance company that engages audience members through live performance. Highly collaborative at its core, the company features visual artists and their work which serve as inspiration for choreographers to create their own work.
Each performance offers audience members a glimpse into the creative process through a Q&A with the choreographers and visual artist, serving as a jumping-off point from which viewers are free to form their own interpretations.
