Smooth Sailing at Cat’s CornerAll hands on deck for a night of swing, style, and smooth sailing.
This Wednesday, March 25, our end-of-the-month theme night is here — and we’re going nautical.
Join us for Smooth Sailing, a seaworthy night of live music, social dancing, sharp style, and just the right amount of maritime mischief. Dress to impress in your best captain, sailor, first mate, deckhand, yacht-club chic, mermaid, merman, or ocean-inspired look. Blue, green, and white are strongly encouraged, along with stripes, scarves, sailor hats, captain’s hats, life preservers, and any other dance-friendly nautical flair.
Live onstage: Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen Getit, bringing their irresistible mix of vintage swing, jazz, jumpin’ R&B, blues, and originals back to the Cat’s Corner floor.
During the band break, we’ll be holding our Sailor Kicks Showcase.
Grab a team of 2–4 dancers and show off your best Sailor Kicks-inspired mini-routine. Bring us something stylish, surprising, silly, polished, musical, or all of the above. Free to enter.
Routine guidelines:
Up to 1 swing chorus (16 x 8 counts)
Recommended minimum: 8 x 8 counts

Costuming
Song choice & musicality
We’ll have a few songs ready to go, including “Smooth Sailing,” “Beyond the Sea,” and “Yacht Club Swing.” Teams are also welcome to use their own music — just email your MP3 to [email protected] by 9:30 PM on Wednesday.

Dance Party Admission (includes beginner lesson)
$15 general
$10 before 8:30 PM or after 10 PM
$5 after 11 PM
Start with class. Order something strong. Dance until the last set.
