The Rogue is thrilled to present this double bill featuring Steve Dawson with Fats Kaplin + Aleksi Campagne!STEVE DAWSON WITH FATS KAPLIN
Juno Award-winning guitarist, producer and songwriter Steve Dawson will be making a quick swing through the west coast of Canada in April 2025 and will have legendary sideman Fats Kaplin in tow from Nashville.
Steve’s unique voice on slide and lap steel guitar is front and centre, while the two musicians improvise and play off each other as they have done in their frequent work together. Steve’s original songs and fiery slide guitar playing are the focus, along with the duo's unique take on blues, Hawaiian, and ragtime music that both musicians love to play.
While Steve is well-known to Canadian audiences in his frequent visits back to Canada, Fats Kaplin is sure to be an exciting new find to many. Fats has spent a great deal of time on the road with artists like Jack White, John Prine, Mitski, Beck, Tom Russell, The Dead Reckoners, and Buddy Miller to name just a few. His facility on the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, oud, accordion, and whatever he can lay his hands on makes him one of the most in-demand side-players in modern music.
It’s rare for these two musicians to find a week where they are both available to tour together, but find it they have, and they look forward to sharing an exciting night of music with audiences in BC.

ALEKSI CAMPAGNE
Winner of the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Award for French Songwriter of the Year for his debut release ‘For the Giving’ a double bilingual album, Aleksi Campagne is uniquely qualified to offer a contemporary, indie-folk take on the time-honoured fiddle-singing tradition.
His original music blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound resulting from his unique combination of voice, violin and looping-effect pedals. In a full-page spread in the Montreal Gazette, Brennan Kelly described him as “not just a folksinger with a guitar!”
At five years old, Aleksi began performing alongside his mother, Canadian folk icon, Connie Kaldor. At 19, Aleksi moved to Paris to study under jazz violin legend Didier Lockwood. At 21, Aleksi became the only student to have ever been accepted into the classical violin, the jazz violin and the jazz voice performance programs at McGill University. Since then, Aleksi had graced the lineups of some of Canada’ most beloved folk festivals—including the Mariposa Folk Festival, the Regina Folk Festival, and the Northern Lights Festival, among others.
