Two highly acclaimed veterans of the UK jazz scene join forces to offer an evening of vibrant and spirited music drawing from the Great American Songbook. The quartet is completed by the wonderful Bass and Drums team of John Donnelly and Gary Evans.
Steve Buckley has been a well established musician on the UK jazz scene for over thirty years. He was an original member of the ground breaking big band Loose Tubes going on to perform and record with many of the UK’s top jazz players nationally and internationally as well as leading his own projects. He is probably best known for his collaborations with trumpeter Chris Batchelor, their 2005 album Big Air being considered “the best UK jazz album for 20 years” by Brian Morton in Jazz Journal.
Mike Outram is one of the UK’s foremost jazz guitarists who is highly sought after as an improviser and for his ability to contribute a unique voice to any ensemble. He has toured internationally and appeared on more than one hundred CD’s for many of the major record companies including Universal and Blue Note. UK collaborations include those with saxophonist Tim Garland, flautist Gareth Lockrane and singer Jacqui Dankworth amongst many others.
