About this Event

The Tenderloin's beloved community member Stephen Tennis passed away peacefully in the early morning on Friday, September 26th, 2025. He was in the best care at the VA hospital and spent his last months in close contact with his loving family and friends. We will now celebrate his beautiful life with the commemorative renaming of the 200 block of Eddy St - in front of the park he loved. The street sign will be on the NE corner of Eddy and Taylor stating, "Stephen Tennis Way." The unveiling will be followed by a lunch inside the rec room at Boeddeker Park. Stephen's daughter, Megan, is making "Stephen Tennis Way" tshirts to bring to the event. We are asking for $23+ donations to pay for the tshirts, lunch, travel/lodging for Stephen's family, and final arrangement costs. Any remaining funds will go directly to Megan.
