ZIGGY D'AMATO
Slouching through the generally overcast streets of Cleveland, Ohio, a self-deluded, and benign “idiot savant”, David “Ziggy” D’Amato wanders without direction. With a head full of pop melodies, three-part harmonies, 60’s girl group backup vocals, 70’s wah-wah guitar solos, and over-the-top 80’s choruses, Ziggy’s subconscious coalesces these elements into a sound he thinks is original. Due to impatience and narcissism he plays all the instruments (vocals, guitars, bass, drums, piano, synths, banjo, and percussion) produces, records and mixes his own songs.
His debut project entitled “Rehearted” is a timeless tale of falling in love after years of a defeated and dormant heart. From the uncool yet groovy bass lines and pleading love of the opening track, “Taylor Swift” to the McCartney-Abba-Queen-Smiths inspired “Peripheral Man” to the James Blake-Bee Gees inspired “Moon” to the Avett Brothers earnestness of the folky closing “Amphetamine Heart”, this project covers many genres all under the comfortable umbrella of pop. This rainbow-genre-cocktail enhances the flavors of the beautiful and tragic essences of love.
David “Ziggy” D’Amato grew up playing in bands and projects around Cleveland such as The Ohioans, …Zach, Youth Pallet, and Caat. He began writing his own songs at the age of 8, started playing guitar at 10, and formed his first band at 12. He hopes to one day meet Taylor Swift.
