When you’re too romantic for just one night out…Keep the love alive with a little dancing to wrap up your Valentine's Weekend! Enjoy a signature cocktail and light charcuterie before learning a little dancing so you can be ready to wow at any reception. No experience is necessary, but do come prepared with your favorite person to learn some basic turns and dips that will set you apart on your next visit to a dance floor!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Juanita Gable had an atypical dance education. She had never been signed up for dance lessons as a child, but choreographed dances for fun and put those skills to work teaching dance fitness at 16. While living in Key West in her 20’s, she choreographed and performed in a trio of back-up dancers for the drag queen “Sha-nay-nay,” and danced on stage for one of the city’s hottest nightclubs as an entertainer / party starter. Soon thereafter, very near the turn of the century, a Venezuelan friend took her to visit his home in Caracas. The first night, at a party in the barrio, extended family members, friends, and neighbors were all dancing salsa and bachata together and she was hooked! When she returned home, she began soaking in Latin dance lessons wherever she could. Later, while living in Colorado, she picked up other ballroom styles of dance: waltz, swing, country 2 step and others. She began traveling the country and the world to take lessons from international champions and experience the joy of dancing with people from other cultures. She began teaching for Arthur Murray in Cincinnati in 2015. During that time she’s won or placed in numerous local and regional dance competitions for cha cha, tango, salsa, swing, and waltz. After the pandemic shut down many of the social dance events that took place there, she made it her mission to bring dancing to the masses by hosting ballroom dance pop-ups Now in Chicago, she continues to seek out interesting and fun places to host lessons and dances within the metro area.
