Get ready to STEP Into LIFE!
Are you a preteen or teen ages 10–19 living in Sedgwick County? STEP - the Sedgwick County Teen Empowerment Project - is a youth education program with one goal: helping you understand that the choices you make today shape the life you'll live tomorrow. Through fun, interactive experiences, STEP covers healthy relationships, boundaries, self-worth, and sexual risk avoidance.
STEP Into Life is a life-size board game designed just for you. Move through real-life scenarios like identifying healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, balancing priorities, weighing career options, healing past traumas, and navigating peer pressure. Along the way, you'll pick up healthy coping skills, practice future-forward decision-making, and get connected with helpful organizations and resources in your community. Trained facilitators will also walk alongside you through topics like the risks of premarital sex, alcohol and drug use, and staying in unhealthy relationships. By the end of the game, you'll have a clearer picture of what it looks like to live a life aligned with your values and your worth.
FREE Chick-fil-A will be provided while supplies last, and the first 100 youth to finish the game win FREE tickets to the Wind Surge game that same evening at 6:05PM!
The event runs from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Once you finish the game, feel free to stick around and shoot hoops, hang out, or head out and grab your Chick-fil-A on the way!
