Please note change of timeSTEM Sparks
To be a STEMSparker you need to have a passion for STEM , be neurodivergent and aged between 10 - 16 years.
Due to the success of the Pilot Scheme we are extending the Stem Spark sessions. They will run on every other Saturday, except for the 4th Saturday of the month when we are in Ivybridge. Session charges have been set at £10 but are voluntary until the 2nd November
So far we have covered Propulsion, Health Science and are moving on to Technology. We will consider experts from Plymouth history, creating models inspired by their inventions. We will meet modern day experts in the field who will offer you an insight into their work and help you carry out your own projects.
We will be carrying out workplace visits, asking the experts and learning more about South West STEM pioneers from both the past and present. We will be researching in the Athenaeum Library.
If you are an employer, educator or expert and would like to be involved in this please get in touch.
We will be working with the Plymouth Athenaeum, so course attendance comes with a Junior Athenaeum Membership which gives you group access to the Athenaeum, access to a young persons monthly lecture and workshop and a bespoke guided tour of the Athenaeum including the tunnels.
Our STEM fair to showcase your work will be held in the Plymouth Athenaeum on Saturday 2nd November from 10- 4 pm. The audience invited will be local employers, family members etc.
We are inviting bookings from neurodivergent young people with a particular interest - places are strictly limited.
You do not have to live in Plymouth or have a diagnosis in order to attend.
Places are open to those in both school and home education.
