First prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2019, Chen tackles Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, allegedly deemed “unplayable” by its original dedicatee, but now a monument in every concert violinist’s repertoire.Music Director Earl Lee leads the orchestra in Jessie Montgomery’s jazz-infused Overture and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10—a portrait of anguish, agony, and all-too-brief triumph.
