Otherwise, you can choose to continue on to the regional city of Bendigo behind our two R Class steam locomotives.Sit back in your comfortable compartment and enjoy the scenery as our classic Hudson steam locomotives power through the line's historic tunnels and viaducts.
After a full day out, relax in your comfortable 1920s or 1940s carriage with a snack, or some light refreshments as we take you home to Melbourne.

MALDON
For those who choose this option, you will change trains at Castlemaine to travel on to Maldon. The Castlemaine to Maldon line is now operated by the Victorian Goldfields Railway (VGR). Over many years, the scenic route was lovingly rebuilt, once again linking the historic gold towns of Castlemaine and Maldon, through the beautiful Box-Ironbark forest in a region that once saw some of the richest gold mining in Australia. In Maldon, you can admire the quaint shop fronts and cottage gardens and pause for lunch in the historic main street of Australia's First Notable Town. Plenty of cafes, hotels and bakeries are available in the main street to purchase lunch.

Indulge as you are taken into a world of decadence.... first class style in 1920's era sleeping and parlour carriages.
As your heritage train takes you through the countryside from Castlemaine to Maldon, you are taking another journey. Beginning with an easy-drinking wheat beer, you sample a range of specialty beers culminating in a rich chocolate porter. Light snacks are served by our stewards on the train, and tasting notes are provided.
You will enjoy a set menu lunch at the Maldon Hotel (meals selected at time of booking), and a beer from their extensive house beer range is included.
For those who are not quite such beer enthusiasts, we do offer alternatives, such as local wines, ciders and soft drinks. This experience is for adults only, strictly no children or infants.
BENDIGO
On arrival at Bendigo, you will have five hours to explore. Ride the vintage tram, wander around and admire the grandeur of the ‘gold era’ buildings or have a quiet lunch at one of the many fine hotels and cafes.

Go first class! Relax in your comfortable air-conditioned and heated 1930s-vintage 'S Type' Carriage compartment. All seating is reserved.
EXCURSION CLASS
Experience our 'E Type' Carriages dating back to 1906 with beautiful timber work and pressed-tin ceilings, walk-through corridors and comfortable compartment-style seating. Featuring 'old-school air-con', with the windows wide open to listen to the engine working hard up the hills. All seating is reserved.
PRIVATE CARRIAGE HIRE
We can provide private carriage hire for groups of up to 88 passengers. We have a range of carriages to choose from including compartment, saloon (open), club cars, sleeping cars and vans.

ON-TRAIN SERVICES
Our on-train facilities include Club Car 'Moorabool', with a kiosk which stocks a wide range of light refreshments, snacks, and hot and cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be available for purchase from our onboard store.
